Rep. John Lesch summoned to MN National Guard in session's final week

Posted: Updated:

Rep. John Lesch said Tuesday he has been called to inactive duty training with the Minnesota National Guard, forcing him to miss the remainder of the legislative session.

Lesch (DFL-St. Paul) will be at Camp Ripley through the end of the week – a critical week in the Minnesota Legislature.

Lawmakers are negotiating differences in House and Senate bills on everything from the supplemental appropriations bill to the Health and Human Services omnibus bill.

Democrats are trying to pass their version to a bonding bill for construction projects around the state. They needed at least 8 Republican votes for a supermajority, but now need 9 votes with Lesch’s departure.
