Man in wheelchair killed in hit-and-run accident

DETROIT -- Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident after a man in a wheelchair was struck by a motorist early Tuesday.

The accident happened around 4 a.m. near Grand Boulevard and Grand River Avenue.

Police say the victim, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man is said to be in his 20s but his identity has not been released.

A dark-colored semi truck is said to have struck him.

Another hit-and-run accident happened just hours prior leaving a young woman in critical condition. The 23-year-old was crossing the street near Outer Drive and Cambridge. Witnesses say a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee struck her.
