CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

What does it take to be a Chicagoan? Everyone has an answer to that question – but the general consensus seems to be this: you just have to try.

Time Out Chicago compiled a list of 49 rites of passage one must endure in order to call yourself a Chicagoan.

So, FOX 32's Jake Hamilton took the list and set out to complete as many as he could in one afternoon.

Here are the items he accomplished:

  • Number six: Successfully use the Pedway to get somewhere
  • Number 11: Get yelled at by the preacher on state street
  • Number 15: Correctly pronounce Hegewisch
  • Number 18: Successfully navigate Lower Michigan Avenue
  • Number 21: Been far too excited to get ice cream at rainbow cone
  • Number 30: Gotten seriously choked up at the thought of Paul Konerko retiring
  • Number 31: Disregard e-coli warnings to swim in Lake Michigan
  • Number 33: Take a class at Second City
  • Number 36: Googled how to remove salt stains from leather
  • Number 43: Point out geographical inconsistencies in Chicago-filmed movies

Jake successfully completed ten out of 49 on the list – so get ready, Chicago.
