After one of the coldest winters in about three decades, I think I am safe in saying that I am not alone when it comes to wanting to put away the snow shovels for another season. Yes, we have seen a trace of snow as late as may 28, but I think its safe to say that we can rest easy in knowing that chances are the snow is done for the 2013/2014 record winter season.

So, let recap what we had and compare it a bit to what is average. Below is as graph of the metro snow totals for the 2013/20014 winter season.

Here is how it looked broken down month by month. The first graphic is an AVERAGE year in the metro and the second graphic is the actually monthly totals for the 2013/20014 winter season.

Our first flake of snow fell back on October 19, 2013, then our first trace on November 6th, then our first snow depth on December 4th, it was one long winter season.

We actually made it into the top ten for the longest amount of time the ground was covered with at least 2" of snow.
