Local Band's Van And Equipment Stolen Ahead of Tour

PHILADELPHIA -

A local band recalls happier times, in videos on its Facebook page doing what they love, playing music. But now the music has stopped because of thieves who stole the band's van with most of its musical equipment inside.

"A lot of our equipment was in there. We had drums and amplifiers and I think a guitar," said Josh Perry, the band's drummer. He says the van was parked at 31st and West Girard Avenue a block from their apartment. But around 2:30 Monday morning it was gone.

"When Tim who plays guitar in The Snails was coming home from work later he noticed that there was a big parking spot where the van was when he left," recalled Josh.

The spot where the van was parked only had shattered glass left behind. Josh says the band plays once a week. But they also have a 3 week tour all across the eastern United States coming up in just 13 days.

"We're not going to cancel the tour of course. We put too much time and effort into it. So we have to figure out the vehicle that we're going to take which is the main problem and what equipment we're going to use. It's just a lot of stress added to an already stressful event," said Josh.

The van is a 2003 white Ford E350. It has a large dent behind the back right tire. It also has snail stickers on it and a WMNF radio sticker on the bumper. If you know where it is call Philadelphia Police.
