Sunday vigil for Anoka man found dead in RV

ANOKA, Minn. (KMSP) -

A vigil for the missing Anoka man who was found dead in an RV rented for a bachelor party will be held Sunday night at the Anoka Northstar Station.

The body of 22-year-old Kevin Casserly was found Thursday night in cargo compartment of the RV rented in Anoka by a bachelor party on its way to the Kentucky Derby.

Casserly went missing on Nov. 12, 2013, and loved ones spent weeks searching for him. He has two children. His family told Fox 9 News he had struggled with methamphetamine addiction and has a lengthy rap sheet; however, they say he had stayed out of trouble in the past few years.

The group who rented the RV hasn’t said who the owner is, but they do say he told them not to open the compartment where Casserly was found, saying the doors were broken.

“Logically, it just doesn't make a ton of sense as to how that would be the way for someone to cover up a murder, but I definitely worry about the family of the person that's in there,” Dan Trainor, one of the renters said.

No arrests have been made, and very few details about the case have been released. The medical examiner has not released autopsy results yet. Investigators did question all members of the renting party; however, none are considered suspects.

Family members and friends plan to hold a vigil for Casserly on Sunday night at 6 p.m. at the Anoka Northstar Station.

There's a big misconception about food vendors at the Minnesota State Fair. Many people think you can set up a booth, work 12 days and make a pile of cash. But it's not that easy. Aside from a lot of hard work, it also takes some luck.
