"All right, full auto," the firing-range instructor tells a 9-year-old girl. She braces the Uzi submachine gun and opens fire at a black-silhouette target. But the recoil wrenches the fully automatic weapon upward, and the instructor is shot in the head and killed.

ALBQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - June sentencings are set in federal court in Albuquerque for two Arizona inmates and a co-defendant in the killings of an Oklahoma couple during a New Mexico carjacking in 2010. U.S. District Judge Judith Herrera on June 3 will sentence John McCluskey in the 2010 killings of Gary and Linda Haas of Tecumseh.

McCluskey faces an automatic life sentence because a jury couldn't unanimously agree on a possible death sentence, but the Albuquerque Journal reports that a hearing is required so the victims' families may speak.

Herrera on June 2 will sentence both Tracy Allen Province, who escaped with McCluskey from a prison in Kingman, Arizona, and Casslyn Mae Welch, McCluskey's cousin and girlfriend. They pleaded guilty and testified during McCluskey's trial for the prosecution.
