Wild beat Avs 5-2, back to Denver for Game 7

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) - Zach Parise knew Game 6 would be “a lose-you’re-done scenario.” He said that at yesterday’s morning skate. So he scored a career playoff-high 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists in the Wild’s 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche at the Xcel Energy Center.

The Wild have won 3 games at home, and lost 3 in Denver, and they’ll be away from their home ice again for Game 7 of the first-round playoff series, the winner taking on the Chicago Blackhawks for the Western Conference semifinals.

“It just felt good tonight, it felt like I had a little extra jump, and just felt like I was making some good plays when I had the puck on my stick. It’s one of those nights where you just want to keep touching it and keep having the puck,” Parise said.

Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov was pulled from the net at 2:44. The Xcel Energy Center drew a crowd of 19,314 -- most of whom went wild with a Jason Pominville empty-netter that was his first goal of the series -- after Parise lifted the Wild to a 3-2 lead with 6:29  remaining in the third period.

About 30 seconds later, Marco Scandella added one last goal at the 19:04 mark to lift the wild 3 goals over the Avs.

"I think we started to get a little bit of fear in our game. Not necessarily afraid of them, just afraid maybe of what we were losing," head coach Mike Yeo said.

Game 7 will be at 8:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
