A dog in Australia saved the day for a kangaroo that plunged into a pool. The kangaroo somehow fell or jumped into a backyard pool in Victoria State.
This video shot by 7News shows the kangaroo treading water as it struggles to get out.
The pool owners say their dog's loud barking alerted them to the trouble. Rescuers sedated the animal and pulling it to safety. A neighbor and a wildlife expert were called to help perform the delicate animal rescue. A restraint used to catch dogs was positioned over the animal's head before he could be sedated.
Victoria's Manfred Zabinskas, a wildlife specialist, said the main concern for getting the kangaroo out of the water was the climatical impact on the animal.
"In his case one of the big concerns is he was very cold by the time I pulled him out so he's actually suffering from hypothermia," said Zabinskas.
The kangaroo is doing okay after being treated for hypothermia at a local hospital.
