DETROIT (WJBK) -- Embattled Wayne Co. Executive Robert Ficano will seek a fourth term.

In a release, Ficano says he will kick off his re-election campaign during a news conference next week in Detroit at International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 58, where supporters are expected to gather.

Ficano, a former Wayne County Sheriff, was first elected as county executive in 2002.

His administration has been the subject of a federal probe for over two years. "I wouldn't be pursuing this if I felt there was anything wrong," Ficano told FOX 2's M.L. Elrick last month. "And I know I've done nothing wrong."

Several of Ficano's aides, however, have been found guilty of accepting bribes.

Other announced candidates seeking the post include Democratic state Rep. Phil Cavanagh of Redford Township, Democratic County Commissioner Kevin McNamara of Belleville and Westland Mayor Bill Wild.
