There is no doubt that we have seen some whopper snow storms this April. We have measured totals of more than a foot on more than one occasion. These are actually record setting storms that made their marks in areas without the official measuring stick. Below are the 5 biggest April snow storms to hit the Twin Cities. These storms dropped their cargo at the Twin Cities' official measuring station.
On Wednesday April 16, 2014, a big snow dropped as much as 20" of the white stuff in areas just north of the immediate metro. To put that amount of snow into perspective, if that total was recorded at the airport, it would have been the largest single April snow fall in Twin Cities history. In fact, the previous snow, on April 3, dropped a much as a foot of snow on some areas. That storm would have been the third largest April snow in metro history. That is if, it would have fallen at the airport. "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda."
In case you were wondering, and I know you were, below are the averages for the month of April.
