2014 Tax Day freebies and more

Have you filed your taxes? Today is the final day to file your 2013 IRS tax return.

If you haven't all is not lost, you still have time to request an extension which gives you six extra months to file. To get the extension, taxpayers must estimate their tax liability and agree to pay any amount due.

According to the IRS website:

"The fastest and easiest way to get the extra time is through the Free File link on IRS.gov In a matter of minutes, anyone, regardless of income, can use this free service to electronically request an automatic tax-filing extension on Form 4868."

In the event you plan to file today -- a number of USPS postal offices will be staying open until midnight for the convenience of any last-minute filers. Taxpayers also have to option to file online.

In addition, some local businesses are offering freebies and deals to ALL taxpayers -- regardless of whether they filed on-time.

  • Arby's is giving away coupons for FREE "snack size" curly fries, today only.
  • Boston Market is selling discounted Half Chicken Individual meals.
  • Chili's is offering FREE appetizers or desserts with the purchase of an entree.
  • Great American Cookie is offering FREE Chocolate Chip Cookies.
  • HydroMassage is giving away FREE massage coupons.
  • Sonic is offering half price slushies and drinks, today only.
  • Office Depot is offering five lbs. of FREE paper shredding.
  • Pinkberry is offering half price Fro-Yo for those who purchased one the day before.
  • McDonald's is offering free coffee during the breakfast hours.
  • Hard Rock Cafe' is offering a free entree to anyone who will sing in front of the restaurant. 
  • Olive Garden is offering a "Buy One, Take One" meals.
  • Outback Steakhouse is offering free Bloomin Onions, today only.
  • Sonny's BBQ is offering 1/2 price Sweet & Smokey or House Dry-Rubbed Ribs dine-in dinner plates.
