$4,000 reward for info on death of Carrie Olson

Posted: Updated:
HASTINGS, Minn. (KMSP) -

The reward for information leading to an arrested and conviction in the death of missing Iowa woman Carrie Olson has been increased to $4,000.

Olson, 29, was missing for more than 3 months before her body was found Saturday, April 5 on an empty lot near Hastings, Minn.

Olson was last seen on Dec. 28 at a gas station in Rock Island, Ill., but she failed to show up for work at the family business two days later. Her disappearance captivated the Quad Cities, located right on the Mississippi River, and friends and family launched massive volunteer searches to find her.

INFORMATION ON OLSON'S CAR SOUGHT

Friends and loved ones who manage the Justice for Carrie Olson page on Facebook are also sharing images of Olson's car, a dark gray 2005 Toyota Avalon with Iowa license plate 088-PMK, in the hopes that someone will have remembered seeing it.

In an e-mail, Loria Woolverton told Fox 9 News, "We truly don't that Carrie's car made it to the Minneapolis airport; however, we are not 100% sure."

Loved ones hope someone -- especially those between the Quad Cities and Hastings -- will remember seeing the vehicle between the time when Olson disappeared on Dec. 29, 2013 and the time when it was returned to the Davenport Police Department on Jan. 3, 2014.

HASTINGS CONNECTION

The man believed to have been last seen with Olson, driving her car, has a connection to Hastings and was in the area around New Year's.

Authorities have declined to offer any specifics, but the man who has been named in other media reports has a female friend living in town who told Fox 9 News he drove to Minnesota some 3 months ago before flying to Las Vegas from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

DAVENPORT LEADING INVESTIGATION

Police in Davenport, Iowa are leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 563-326-6125.

The $4,000 reward includes contributions from VanDerGinst Law, American Spirit Charities, Fletcher Ford and Matt Larson.
