DETROIT (WJBK) -- Police say a child found wandering the streets alone on Detroit's east side has been reunited with family.

Sgt. Michael Woody tells FOX 2 a citizen saw 5-year-old Jason Banks walking in an area near the Coleman A. Young International Airport early Monday and called police.

Officers picked up the boy and brought him to the Eastern District. Shortly after, police received a 911 call from a woman believed to be Banks' grandmother in regards to a missing child.

Police say mom and grandma arrived at the station to pick the boy up before 9 a.m. They did not offer comment to FOX 2.

Circumstances leading up to Banks wandering off are unknown.
