Police, U of M vow to comb through 'riot' footage, online posts

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

On Sunday, the streets of Dinkytown looked drastically different than just a few hours before -- but the consequences of the rowdy post-game revelry could still be coming as police and school officials analyze the images.

Shortly after the Golden Gophers lost their chance in the Frozen Four, some University of Minnesota students lost control. While some of the more obnoxious behavior was mostly harmless, some left property damage in its wake.

The police didn't take any chances, using flash bangs and paintball pellets to keep the crowd from moving before dispersing it while a Minnesota State Patrol chopper watched from above.

Yet, there were plenty of cameras capturing the scene -- from the mobile camera Minneapolis police posted there to the cell phones in the hands of students.

Both Minneapolis police and the University of Minnesota have pledged to look through the footage collected by police as well as the images and videos posted to Facebook and Twitter.
