There's been a boom in the rental market, and RadPad CEO Jonathan Eppers joined Studio 11 LA to talk about renting single family homes over renting apartments or condos.

In 2008 and 2009, many people lost their homes and came back into the rental market. A lot of them have families and would rather have a home than an apartment. If you're looking to rent a house, the Top 5 most popular neighborhoods to rent a house are:

Santa Monica
Beverly Hills
Hollywood Hills
Silverlake

Some other stats:

Of the 3.9 million people living in Los Angeles, 38% are homeowners and 62% are renters, the highest percentage in the nation.

The average monthly rent for an apartment is $1635, which is 67&

The average monthly rent for a home is $6240, which is 28%

An interesting side pointis that the average monthly rent for a boat is $3858, which is about .09%
