Local Doctor Receives Life Saving Organ Donation

Posted: Updated:
HAVERTOWN, Pa. -

A doctor from our area knows firsthand how important organ donation is.

Brynn Marks grew up in Havertown and Media.

In 2006, she says she couldn't lie flat on her back and couldn't sleep.

It turns out she was suffering from a virus, and while her body fought it off, her heart was damaged.

She received a new heart last year, something she says she is eternally grateful for.

"It's incredible that in a moment of grief someone could make a decision for a stranger because otherwise I would not be here," says Marks.

Marks is running in Sunday's Dash For Organ And Tissue Donor Awareness because, as she puts it, she can.

We hope you'll join Fox 29 for the 19th Annual Dash for Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness this Sunday, April 13th, at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
