UMD softball to honor Mandy Matula in weekend home openers

Posted: Updated:

The UMD softball team has designated this weekend as "1FOUR Mandy" in honor of former Bulldog Mandy Matula, who died tragically last spring. Her number 14 jersey will be officially retired later in the season, but the entire team will wear Mandy's number as a tribute on both Friday and Saturday.

The Bulldogs open their season with a doubleheader Friday against Augustana on Friday before facing Wayne State twice on Saturday. UMD Athletics, in partnership with the Matula family, has established the 1FOUR Mandy Fund, which provides financial support for the Bulldog softball program. More Info
