NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Some New York City food inspectors might be wearing Google Glass during restaurant visits under a new City Council proposal.

A yearlong pilot program would require 10 percent of the 160 city health inspectors to wear video devices.

"I think it would limit the abuses on both sides of the table, and it would allow for a more objective view by the judge on the violations that have been cited," bill sponsor Vincent Ignizio (R-SI) told the Post.

The measure already has the support of 22 of the 51 council members.

A number said they signed on because of complaints about spiteful inspectors or of guilty restaurateurs fighting deserved fines.

Councilman James Vacca (D-Bronx) also wants sanitation, parking and health agents to photograph evidence of violations.
