CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A rainy morning in Chicago caused a rough commute and flight delays up to 90 minutes at the city's airports.

The National Weather Service warned early Thursday that thunderstorms will continue throughout the morning, especially south of Interstate 80.

The rain caused flight delays up to 90 minutes at O'Hare and about 15 minutes at Midway as of 8:15 a.m., according to the city's Department of Aviation.

There will be a short respite midday before more storms develop this afternoon and continue through the night, according to the weather service. The storms could produce hail, wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and heavy rainfall.

More than two inches of rain could fall by Thursday night in areas south of the city, according to the weather service.

Friday will be cloudy with another chance of showers and a high temperature of 50 degrees.
