3 ways to cope with winter wallop in April

Posted: Updated:

Many Minnesotans hoped the melting snow would mean the end of winter, but with snow bearing down on the Twin Cities once more, Fox 9 News found a few ways to cope.

When snow falls in April, it seems only natural to laugh or cry -- but there are a few things that will help get through the weather blues.

1. Explore a local attraction

Friends Rachel Fleming and Jolene Mathis spent their winter in different ways, but they both agree that getting out of the house and exploring the Como Zoo is a great way to break cabin fever.

"It helps tremendously just to get in the fresh air and nature," Mathis said.

2. Get some exercise

Weeks of subzero chills left many people feeling cooped up, but exercise is a great way to expel that pent-up energy -- and it's a crucial component of staying healthy physically and emotionally.

3. Take a vacation

For some, another dose of snow is just too much to take. Seeking out the sun and warmth can help carry the winter-weary soul through until spring finally arrives.
