Gophers outlast Florida State in OT, face SMU in NIT championship game
The Gophers advanced to the NIT championship game on Thursday night with a 67-64 overtime win over Florida State. Austin Hollins and DeAndre Mathieu each scored 17 points in the win and Mo Walker made six free throws in overtime playing extended minutes due to Elliott Eliason's ankle injury.
The Gophers (24-13) built a 15 point lead in the first half and led by 10 at the break only to watch Florida State charge back and tie the game on a Devon Bookert 3-pointer at the end of regulation. The Gophers will play SMU Thursday night for the NIT Championship.
The Gophers had runs of 10-0 and 11-0 in the first half before watching the Seminoles score seven of the final nine points to cut into Minnesota's lead.
