Man dies after falling through ice on Burnsville pond

A man has passed away after falling through the ice of a Burnsville, Minn. pond on Monday afternoon.

The Burnsville Fire Department pulled the man in his 40s who was alone while walking on the pond, from the water at Sunset Pond Park at the intersection of County Road 42 and Burnsville Parkway.

He was brought to an area hospital in serious condition but passed away on Tuesday night. His identity has not been released.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident and is reminding residents not to walk or drive on the ice now that spring has arrived.
