The fire began around 1 a.m. at a 125-unit, three-story complex at 5833 73rd Avenue. The 4 victims who were sent to the hospital suffered minor injuries. People were reportedly jumping from third-floor windows to escape flames.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, but Battalion Chief Mike Power told Fox 9 News he believes the fire started in the hallway on the third floor.

The building was equipped with smoke detectors and the alarm system reportedly went off, but there are no sprinklers in the building.

ST. LOUIS PARK FIRE

The fire broke out just before 7:00 p.m. Monday on the 2900-block of Texa Tonka Avenue. When crews arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames. The woman was the only person inside and got out before firefighters arrived but still needed to be brought to the hospital as a precaution.

Neighbors said they heard explosions as the house burned down.

The fire chief said there were oxygen tanks inside the home but it's unclear if anything actually exploded.
