Family asking for prayers for Lily

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Lily Tinney has a rare and fatal disease. And her family has countered the prognosis with prayer. Their simple request for prayer on our FOX 5 Atlanta Facebook page has generated a huge outpouring and for that this sweet, humble family is grateful.

"There is no treatment for it. There is no cure. So we are just waiting for somebody hopefully out there today to hear about this to have the knowledge to help," said grandmother Wendy Gancasz.

Lily is hospitalized at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Doctors will attempt to take a feeding tube from her nose and place it to her little stomach.

Thousands of FOX 5 viewers have shown their love to Lily's family, through simple prayers, connecting the family to programs to help lily get medical equipment she needs and also fundraisers.

"Oh, we've had hundreds and thousands of people contacting us and praying with us and praying for Lily and over Lily. And the more people we feel like that we can get together and get onboard with a good genuine spirit, maybe God will listen. Maybe He will grant us our prayer," said Gancasz.

Doctors have given Lily six months to live. However, the 200 children known to have the same rare disease have not survived.

"It keeps us going every day. It keeps us with hope. It keeps up with ability to go on and keep taking care of each other and keep taking care of her," said Gancasz.

You can leave you thoughts and prayers for Lily on Doug Evans' Facebook page.
