Bruckheimer says new 'Top Gun,' 'Beverly Hills Cop' planned

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Ask mega Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer how many movies he's behind after four decades in the business and he can't say for sure. "40 or so," the Detroit native told Good Day NY on Friday.

Those '40 or so' movies have brought in billions of dollars.

Those films include the hits 'Top Gun' and 'Beverly Hills Cop,' both of which will be making a return to the big screen with their respective stars Tom Cruise and Eddie Murphy.

"We’re developing another 'Top Gun.' We hope to get it going shortly. We’ve been doing it for 30 years and we hadn’t come up with the right angle. We have it now. You have these drones. Is the pilot obsolete? We’re going to do something where you’re really going to need the pilot. He’s going to be one of the pilots," said Bruckheimer of Cruise.

The pair have been long time friends.

Another hit to make a comeback will be 'Beverly Hills Cop.'

"We’re going to do another one with Eddie Murphy. This is going really well. We have Eddie and we have an excellent script," said Bruckheimer.

For Bruckheimer, what started with a camera at the age of six in Detroit turned into a life long passion for creating films and TV shows.

His latest project 'Deliver Us From Evil' is set for a July 4 release.  The movie was shot entirely in the Bronx.

"It's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen," said Bruckheimer.

From film to photography, the man behind the lens is immortalizing his work in print, too.

Bruckheimer is out with a new book; a collection of his work, 'Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes- Four Decades of Filmmaking.'

"I'm told it weighs about ten pounds," said Bruckheimer of the large, coffee table book now available in stores.

The U.S. Open is underway in Queens and there's no denying that many of the players, both men and women, are in great physical shape and know how to play that up. Women are particularly promoted in the industry as attractive, fashionable and fiercely competitive. Does that help the game and draw more people in?

A new reality show is bringing a sense of urgency to your television screen. The show 'The Singles Project' is shot Wednesday- Saturday and airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Bravo. “That's what makes the show different. We're filming in real-time. We're really on a roller coaster and it's off the rails. The social media part is just another layer,” said Joey Healy, eyebrow stylist to the stars. Healy, Lee Gause, Tabazum Mir and Kerry Cassidy are among the cast members.
