MNSURE: What you need to know on final weekend

Posted: Updated:
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

This is the final weekend for Minnesotans to sign up for health insurance through the MNsure marketplace before Monday's enrollment deadline.

MNSURE DAY

In an effort to raise awareness of the MNsure deadline, the mayors of Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth proclaimed Friday MNsure Day in their cities.. It's all about getting the word out.

AVERAGE WAIT: 8 MINUTES

With the rush to enroll, wait times are increasing, but they are still nowhere near the massive problems seen in December. MNsure officials said the average wait time is currently about 8 minutes.

MNsure has already reached health insurance enrollment goal for 2014, enrolling nearly 150,000 people.

IF YOU MISS THE DEADLINE

If you miss Monday's deadline, you can only purchase coverage for 2014 if you have a qualifying life event such as a job change, or if you qualify for Medicaid and MinnesotaCare.

If you don't have health insurance and don't sign up for MNsure, you will face a tax of $95 or 1 percent of your annual income

The next open enrollment is Nov. 15.

There's a big misconception about food vendors at the Minnesota State Fair. Many people think you can set up a booth, work 12 days and make a pile of cash. But it's not that easy. Aside from a lot of hard work, it also takes some luck.
