MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Two Minneapolis police officers suffered minor injuries after an SUV slammed into their squad car Tuesday night.

The crash happened at 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of 36th Ave. N. and Russell Ave. N. The squad was hit on the driver's side.

It's not clear if the squad had lights or sirens activated before the crash or how fast either vehicle was traveling.

The officers were taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries. One officer was held overnight for observation but released on Wednesday morning. Police spokesman Scott Seroka said the two people in the SUV refused medical treatment.
