St. Paul man shot after firing at officers

A 37-year old Saint Paul man was shot after he raised a gun and fired at officers who went to the residence in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue East to arrest him in connection with an aggravated assault investigation.

After entering the residence, a member of the Saint Paul Police Department's SWAT unit returned fire and struck the suspect in the arm. The man was transported to Regions Hospital and is recovering from the non-life threatening wound.

The unidentified suspect has not been formally booked on suspicion of any crime.
