What your choice of takeout food says about you

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

In a city where there are endless food options and dozens of delivery apps, how do you decide what to order in? Dave Infante is an editor at Thrillist. He has a theory about delivery orders -- that what we order -- says a lot about who we are.

"It's like a source of like people's deepest secret is their delivery order," he says. "What they do when no one else is watching."

So what about if you usually order in Mexican food?

"Mexican food does not travel well," Dave says. "So if you're ordering Mexican food, you're a perennial optimist. This time around the guacamole is not going to be brown, the chicken enchilada will be crispy and not soggy. It's got to work this time."

Track: What about if you crave Thai food?

"At the end of a long day you don't feel like eating a salad or something healthy," Dave says. "You just want to crush an entire vat of noodles and go to sleep. And I think that's what it says about you. You just had a hell of a day."

And what about if you only go organic?

"They like hiking on the weekends or the idea of hiking on the weekends, even if they don't go," Dave says. "And they take care of themselves. This is someone who probably has a yoga membership, you know. They're better people than me, for sure, in terms of their health habits."

And what about if you only cook and never order in?

"Uh are there people like that? Do people exist like that?" Dave says. "I never thought people could exist in this city without dabbling in delivery at some point."
