DETROIT (WJBK) -

Detroit police say a decomposed body was discovered on Detroit's east side Wednesday.

DTE tree removal contractors were working on Minnesota Avenue between Greeley and Riopelle streets when they spotted the human remains.

Police were called and are investigating.

Police do not have an identity on the body yet because, they say, at this point the remains are just bones. No clothing or identification were found at the scene.

At this time, investigators tell FOX 2's Ron Savage they believe the bones are of an adult, but a medical examiner will have to determine the gender of the person. Those results could come as early as Thursday.

Police say the case will be handled as a homicide or a missing person investigation depending on the medical examiner's findings.
