7-11 Employee Fired For Helping Homeless

Posted: Updated:

A 7-11 worker finds herself off the schedule and out of work after being a good samaritan.

Last Thursday was a cold 10 degree day.

Ava Lins was working at a 7-11 in Salem when she says a homeless man came in.

Ava's heart went out to him.

Lins recalls, "He didn't have money and I knew that. I just had compassion"

So she gave him a cup of coffee and didn't charge him.

"I figured well why not. I'll give him a small cup of coffee.  it costs about $1.13," explain Lins.

But then the store owner Romany Youseff came in and Ava says he was upset.

She continues, "He basically grabbed him by the jacket and started screaming at him asking him if he paid for it."

Ava admits lying to stop the argument but the next day she admitted it all to Youseff.

"I said he did not pay for the coffee. I admitted I had lied and he asked me to pay for it," remember Lins.

She did pay but later Ava tells FOX she found herself off the schedule and out of work.

Youseff denies it all.

Youseff says, "No no no no no that's not the story... that's not the story."

Youseff claims the coffee incident never took place. He says Ava asked for Sunday off and showed us a schedule with her name on it.

"No I have not taken her off the schedule," declares Youseff.

The only problem is Ava told us she isn't aware she's back on this schedule.

Youseff again saying this is just a mix up.
