Rape Charges Dropped Against Former Montco GOP Chairman

NORRISTOWN, Pa. -

Rape charges have been dropped against attorney and former Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman Robert Kerns.

Last fall, Kerns was charged with drugging a woman with Ambien and then raping her after a party.

Defense attorney Brian McMonagle says two toxicologists reviewed the victim's lab work and found no drugs found in the woman's system.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman says the lab work was reviewed again and determined that her team had made a mistake.

Charges could be re-filed if prosecutors determine there is enough legitimate evidence to proceed with the sexual assault case.
