Winslow Township Family Tries To Lay Little Girl To Rest

A local family is trying to lay a little girl to rest. She died after an accident on the Atlantic City Expressway last week in Winslow Township.

Young Arie Love Burton's friends and family want to help her parents with the funeral and the need is great.The expenses are overwhelming. Arie helped save lives through organ donations.

As FOX 29's Dave Kinchen reports now her family needs some help too.

"She was the best little sister, the best big sister…I think you couldn't ask for anything better. She was an honor roll student."

Toya Walker tries to focus on the pleasant memories with her daughter 9 year-old Arie Burton but the loss is still too hard to grasp.

"It's not easy. Definitely not easy. Especially a good girl like her," Toya said.

Aire was on a family trip when she was thrown from the car following a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway March 9.

New Jersey State Police say the driver, a family friend, fell asleep behind the wheel.

"I just remember screaming out 'get her! Find her, she's not in the car!"

Aire was in the hospital for days unresponsive due to head trauma. Finally Walker says she made the hardest decision of her life letting her daughter go donating her organs.

"Her middle name is Love and I just feel like it stands for something. With all the love that we were able to give," Walker said.

Making things even harder Walker says she doesn't have enough money for the funeral. Family friend Brandon Jones set up this page at gofundme.com requesting help.

"I called Toya and I said "what do you want me to do?" She said. "We need money. We need help!" I said "OK, no problem. I got it," Jones said.

They raised $5000 so far but need more help so they can give Aire the sendoff she deserves.

State Police say it is unclear if Aire was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. They say charges are pending against the driver. In the meantime, if you would like to help the family with Aire's funeral costs, log on here.
