Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA, P.A. -

What better way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day weekend than raising funds for childhood cancer research?   It's all part of the St. Baldrick's Foundation annual event.

Fado Irish Pub hosted the 5th annual event on Sun. March 16 at 2 p.m. The fundraising goal is $35,000 with 51 registered shavees. The even is taking place at the pub on 15th and Locust until 8 p.m.

There will also be another head shaving event on April 18, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Drexel University. The goal is $55,000 between the 132 already registered shavees.

St. Baldrick's Foundation is volunteer-driven and funds promising research initiatives to find cures for childhood cancer. It is the largest private founder of childhood cancer research grants and hosts the head-shaving events to college pledges and create solidarity with children fighting cancer.
