Prosecutor tackles fleeing defendant at Benton County courthouse

FOLEY, Minn. (KMSP) -

Benton County Attorney Philip Miller, in a move that would make his high school football coach proud, chased down and tackled a defendant who was trying to flee the courthouse.

Miller was in the courtroom Thursday for the sentencing of Dontae Marcus Frazier, who will serve 7 years in prison for violating his probation on a drug possession conviction.

The prosecutor noticed Frazier seemed a bit agitated, so he requested an additional bailiff as a precaution.

At that moment, Frazier ran out of the courtroom, into the hallway and toward the exit. Miller told the St. Cloud Times he "took him out at the knees" before he could escape.
