Officials say the body of a diver who was reported missing after he failed to surface near the Old Waddell dam in Lake Pleasant has been found.
Authorities say 63-year-old Nathan Allen Sheffel of Phoenix, was experienced and out with a group when he did not return.
Fellow divers say he was last seen around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, he had an estimated 140 minutes of air at that time.
By 1:45 p.m. Friday, officials said Sheffel's body had been found 248 feet below the surface at Lake Pleasant.
Sheffel did carry a full circuit re-breather system which would have given him up to an additional five hours of air. His friends did not know if he was using that system.
Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Jim Kempher said the area they are searching is dangerous. "It's a very risky dive in that area even for recreational diving," said Kempher.
A team of Phoenix Police and Maricopa County Sheriff dive-teams are searching in the water. Deputies are also using a remote operated vehicle to search the lake.
