Comedian's Taxi Prank Might Make Him An Ex-Cabbie

Posted: Updated:

Jimmy Failla is a cab-driver-turned-comedian who, some say, took a taxi prank just a little too far in New York City.

Failla drove around with a live python and revealed it to unsuspecting passengers during the ride. And, of course, it was filmed.

City taxi regulators don't find the prank particularly funny. They say drivers cannot harass or abuse passengers.

Although Failla hasn't worked as a cab driver in years, the regulators may still revoke his license.

Along with this, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has gotten involved and is complaining that Failla should have used a rubber snake instead of a live one.

Senior director of communications Colleen O'Brien told Gothamist.com, "being bombarded by shrieking passengers, slamming car doors and threats of violence is extremely stressful for them."

A statement from Failla, however, retorts, "The snake was handled with the utmost compassion and consideration by a licensed snake handler and the team took multiple shooting breaks to make sure the snake was relaxed."
