We all know how frustrating airport security lines can sometimes be. They can be long, and then you have to remove your shoes, and don't forget to make sure those liquids are in a zip lock bag. It can ruin a trip before it even starts. So do you have an idea how to make airport security better? Make the lines faster? If you do, it could earn you part of $15,000.

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

The Arizona community came together in a show of support for two valley families Wednesday.

Detective John Hobbs was laid to rest earlier this week. He was shot and killed while pursuing a felony murder suspect.

Hobbs's partner, Albert Casados, was also shot by the suspect and is recovering.

Danny's Family Car Wash held a benefit car wash today with all proceeds going to the officers families.

Street side, officers gave some of their own time to help one of their own.

"This is about paying it forward, obviously Detectives Hobbs and Casados were in a violent situation that obviously led to Detective Hobbs losing his life fighting for us and fighting for the City of Phoenix and the citizens," said Ben Carro a community action officer with the City of Phoenix.

"We saw a huge procession downtown for the officer, their families are hurting and the need support and that's what the community is here for," said Dan Stuebe.

From 7:30 am to 2 p.m.  Danny's Car Wash on Cactus and Tatum helped the families with free car washes. The company gave 100-percent of the donations going to the officers families.

"It's always sad when we lose one and I hope the whole community comes out and donates they need it they need our support," said Dion Etter.

"We'll probably have 30 officers out here throughout the day that are just going to be helping out by working, that are just going to be out here helping, they want to give back," said Caro.

Police officers also held a raffle of some sports memorabilia and a barbeque grill among the items.

A mobile command van and a special assignments unit vehicle were also on display.   Some folks saw the vehicles and stopped. Others heard about the event on the news or radio and made the special trip in.

"I have actually been traveling quite a bit this month but made the trip down to get it done it's a great cause and everyone should come down and do it, a free car wash and give to a family in need," said Stuebe.

One cause for 2 families who gave of themselves protecting the community.
