Family Says 13-Year Old Was Beaten At School by 17-Year Old

A 13-year-old boy was jumped on his way home from school, and then humiliated after video of the incident was posted on social media. Now his parents want some accountability from the school district.

The boy's parents have filed a police report and police said they're still conducting interviews, but no arrests have been made.

We want to warn you, this video may be disturbing to some. We are also not showing the victim's face.

Shocking video taken on a cell phone showed a teenage boy getting pummeled by another boy on the 2300 block of Chestnut Street, right outside Greenfield school.

"He hit me first, and then I tried to defend myself so I was swinging back," the victim said.

The 13-year-old victim said he was walking to his bus ride home Friday, when his attacker got off a different bus and began hitting him.

The victim described his assailant as an acquaintance, who went to a different school.

"Words cannot define the hurt and the anguish I'm experiencing every time I have to revisit that video," the victim's mother Lena Hughey said.

The fight left the victim swollen and bloodied. "He just started thumping him and throwing him around, as if he was a rag doll," Hughey said.

His mother said the crossing guard told her she ran to get help because of the big crowd of people, leaving the victim defenseless.

"I thought I had some friends that were going to do something about it," the victim said.

The boy is grateful for the stranger walking by who broke things up.

He said the fight stemmed from someone spreading a rumor that he called his attacker a name.

His father believes the whole thing was orchestrated by people out to get his son.

"On the video, you can see that the person already their cell phone running," Anthony Hughey said.

The Hughey's said their son was bullied so badly three years ago he had to change schools.

They said he likely won't be going back to Greenfield.

"It's a never ending story, and if my voice can be a vehicle to other parents and students who are crying inside because they're being bullied, they're being jumped on and nothing is being done," Lena Hughey said.

A School District spokesperson said the principal of Greenfield will reach out to the family and provide any support their son needs, like counseling or an escort to his bus each afternoon.
