ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

A public hearing on Minnesota's medical marijuana bill will get underway at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Room 5 of the State Office Building in St. Paul.

H.F. 1818, introduced last year by Rep. Carly Melin (DFL-Hibbing) would allow people with specific medical conditions to use medical marijuana if their doctors recommend it.

Health conditions covered by the bill include:

- Cancer
- Glaucoma
- Hepatitis C
- HIV/AIDS
- PTSD
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Tourette's Syndrome

The Minnesota Department of Health would issue medical marijuana ID cards to patients and set-up medical marijuana dispensaries.

Licensed patients who do not live near a dispensary would be allowed to grow marijuana in their homes.
