After an almost warm couple of days, we will start to cool heading into Tuesday thanks to our next storm that will dive into the Upper Midwest. Now, temperatures will be awfully close to freezing or even above freezing during at least part of this event… so overall snow totals will be light, but I know it's what many don't want to hear. Here is what is possible for snow totals as we head into Tuesday. This forecast is from the Weather Prediction Center and shows the probability of getting at least 1 inch, 2 inches, and 4 inches of snow.
You can see that the snow will stay across southern Minnesota and mostly south of the metro, with many big city locations getting no accumulation at all. But parts of southern Minnesota have an 70 plus percent chance for 2 inches of snow with even some smaller chances for as much as 4 inches. We cool off briefly through midweek, but plenty more melting is in the 7-day forecast at the end of the week and weekend.
