Iraq War Veteran Reunites With Long Lost Memorabilia

Posted: Updated:

Iraq War Veteran, Christopher Kelly, was surrounded by brothers as he came in at the left the airport, but these men are brothers in every way except blood. They all served together in the Iraq war.

One brother gave his life fighting in Iraq  in 2009.

Chris explains how his younger brother Matthew, a pilot in the 82nd airborne, was shot down during  a nighttime reconnaissance mission by an improvised missile.

Another chopper with two pilots on board suffered the same fate.

"It was Phil Wendorski, Matthew Kelley in his helicopter. And the other helicopter had Benjamin Todd and Joshua Tillery," recalls Chris.

The four names on a bracelet were given to Chris by his brother's unit.

Unfortunately, he lost in Daytona Beach during Bikefest 2011.

He's been wearing a replacement but it is not quite the same.

"I remember when he lost the bracelet. He was pretty devastated when he got back to the hotel afterwards," remembers Veteran, Bob Reed.

A couple from Fort Lauderdale, Jasmine and Bill Todhunter, found the memento stuck in the sand on a Fort Lauderdale beach this past Saturday.
The bracelet was hiding in the sand for three years!

They posted the find on Facebook and after 200,000 views; a friend of the Kelley family saw it and notified Chris.

They arranged to meet at vacation village in Kissimmee.

Chris says "It is almost like a reunion with my brother."
