35E closed for weekend from St. Paul to Little Canada

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Interstate 35E is closed in both directions all weekend between downtown St. Paul and Highway 36, near Little Canada, Minn., for bridge demolition work that's part of a MnPASS express lane project.

35E CLOSURE

- Single lane closures begin at 7 p.m. Friday, Mar. 7

- Full closure of 35E begins at 10 p.m. Friday, Mar. 7

- All lanes reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Mar. 10

- Traffic detoured to Interstate 694 and Interstate 94

THE JOB

- Demolition of the Arlington Avenue bridge and Wheelock Parkway bridge

- 35E MnPASS project will add an express lane between Maryland Avenue and Little Canada Road

THE HEADACHE

The 35E closure comes during the Minnesota boy's state high school hockey tournament at Xcel Energy Center and the heavily-attended Let's Play Hockey expo at RiverCentre next door.

    Two Kentucky firefighters were seriously injured helping a college band perform an ice bucket challenge stunt. The bucket of the fire truck apparently touched power lines outside of the football stadium at Campbellsville University.  wo Campbellsville/Taylor County Fire Department firefighters were taken to the hospital after the incident.
