Solider Finally Meets His Baby Girl

Posted: Updated:

Dozens of friends, family and loved ones gathered at Sacramento international airport waiting for their soldiers to return on Thursday.

They were all holding their welcome home signs proudly waiting for their hero.

These girls waited for the dad, Lieutenant Daniel Pauly, especially his 4 mouth old daughter Emma. This is the first time (not via facetime) Pauley was able to meet her.

The same week Pauley learned his wife was pregnant he also learned he'd be heading back to Afghanistan for his second tour with the National Guard's 1113th transportation company

"I knew the tears were coming. I felt them on the plane ride just thinking about seeing them. Sheer joy," says Pauley.

Pauley was among the first group of soldiers that will be arriving at sac international throughout the day.

"I tell my soldiers if you're not scared every time you go out the wire then you're wrong. It is what you do with that fear that protects you. You have to treat every mission like it is your first and it could possibly be your last," advises Caption Walter Wade.
