MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Freezing rain was causing quite a bit of trouble on Minnesota roads Friday morning. Spinouts were a common sight on highways and county roads all morning, but mostly outside of the immediate metro. VIEW SLIDESHOW

Multiple vehicles spun out within a 5-mile stretch of Interstate 94, east of St Cloud, near the Opportunity Drive exit. No information has been released on the number or extent of injuries.

Speeds slowed to 25 mph and at one point travel had stopped completely. At the exit ramp to St. John's University, several semis had pulled over to rest and one driver got out and slid down the icy pavement along his trailer to stretch his legs with a smile on his face.

Fog later replaced the freezing rain, reducing visibility to 1/2 mile in some areas. Other significant trouble spots were reported on Interstate 35 near Hinckley and Owatonna.
