Adrian Peterson: Michael Vick will make Vikings a playoff team

Posted: Updated:
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson wants Michael Vick as starting quarterback for Minnesota.

On Wednesday night, Peterson mused over a potential playoff appearance on Twitter, and apparently, he thinks the veteran quarterback is exactly what Minnesota needs.

@AdrianPeterson "@MikeVick would intently make the vikings a playoff team!"

Though he hasn't confirmed, Peterson may have been responding to the NFL Network's tweet from earlier in the day.

@NFL Network
"Mike Vick would instantly make ________ a playoff contender."

After last year's quarterback carousel, Peterson might be onto something as the team heads into free agency. Currently, Christian Ponder is the only quarterback signed. Matt Cassel is an unrestricted free agent that holds a player option to return in 2014 and Josh Freeman, who was signed mid-season, is a free agent and will not return.

Draft options: No instant fix at QB spot

Vick will be 34 in June and started in 6 games with the Philadelphia Eagles last season before he was sidelined with a hamstring injury and replaced by Nick Foles. Signed in 2009, he played in few games but helped the Eagles get to the playoffs in 2010, then missed 9 of 32 games in 2011 and 2012 with injuries.

Is Vick the answer? His recent injury history is something to consider. Either way, as fans search for some semblance of hope at quarterback, Peterson's attention to his team is something they can hold onto.
