Bucks County Basketball Player Gets Shot Of A Lifetime

Posted: Updated:

A Bucks County teenager gets another shot of a lifetime. You may remember Kevin Grow from Bensalem, he's the student with Down syndrome who scored 4 three-point shots during a high school basketball game.

This video went viral and even got the attention of the 76ers.

The teen received a ceremonial two-day contract with the team. Well now, Kevin has scored again. This time, he has the chance to play with the Harlem Globetrotters.

Globetrotters are also recognizing his classmates. FOX 29's Leigh Scheps explains why.

The crowd goes wild for 18-year-old Kevin Grow. The Bensalem, Pennsylvania high school student turned national hero.

Kevin's parents are two of thousands that packed the gymnasium bleachers and witness a dream come true, a shot at basketball with the famous Harlem Globetrotters.

"You'd hope this for any of your children that he's able to come to this point and be recognized," Kevin's Mom Dorothy Grow told FOX29. "The globetrotters are very special to him so the fact that he's realizing this dream is just so wonderful for him."

A few years ago, Kevin wrote the team asking to play with them, but it was a varsity basketball game last month that finally got their attention.

As the team's manager, Kevin scored four 3-pointers in under two minutes.

Kevin's classmates have been a great support system. The Harlem Globetrotters recognized them as national leaders for embracing him.

The Globetrotters call them an example of how students across the country should behave.

"It's hard to be different sometimes when you're in grade school. We travel the country year round talking to kids and trying to get them to do what this school is doing and that's what this school is doing. And that's to embrace kids who are different and fight bullying," said Harlem Globetrotter TNT Maddox.

"Obviously you put a child into a mainstream school and hope for the best. We could have never imagined such a positive environment for our son to be accepted by students and staff," Kevin's dad Earl Grow said.

The ball continues to fall in Kevin's court. Our cameras caught Kevin shooting another three-pointer on Good Day Wednesday as he prepares to play with the Harlem Globetrotters this weekend. Kevin even has a special jersey to wear during the game.

For now, playing ball is just a hobby. Next year, it's back to team manager.

It's a dream come true one shot at a time.
