ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

It was Hermantown v. Luverne in the Minnesota State High School Boys' Hockey tournament at the Xcel Energy Center, or, as Fox 9's Rob Olson reports, hockey town v. first-timer.

Hermantown (22-4-2), the No. 2 seed, faced off against unseeded Luverne (27-0-1) at 11 a.m. Hermantown will advance to a Friday morning State A Semifinal against Chisago Lakes or New Prague after a 6-3 win.

Luverne entered the matchup as the highest-scoring team in Minnesota even though they've never made it to a state tournament.
