Drug charges follow raid of Schererville home

SCHEREVILLE, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Eight people may be facing drug-related charges after a raid Tuesday on a northwest Indiana home turned up marijuana, cocaine, pills and paraphernalia, the Post-Tribune is reporting.

According to Schererville police, the department's Special Operations Task Force and the Northwest Regional SWAT Team executed a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 1200 block of Kennedy Avenue inSchererville.

The raid was the conclusion of a three-month investigation, police said.

During the raid, police found eight people in the home and all may face drug charges, police said.

Police confiscated $7,116 in cash, two pounds of marijuana, cocaine, miscellaneous prescription pills and drug paraphernalia, a statement from police said.

Those charged so far include:

— Shain Aures, 24, of the 1200 block of Kennedy Avenue in Schererville, charged with one count of maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony;

— Mitchell Haddad, 21, also of the Kennedy Avenue address, charged with two misdemeanor counts of dealing marijuana, and one misdemeanor count of visiting a common nuisance;

— Benjamin Weber, 22, of Memphis, Tenn., charged on three outstanding Schererville Town Court warrants.

Additional charges are pending against all three, police said. The five other people in the home were released pending the filing of formal charges.
